  2. Wow, I am such a fan of the Mk5 era in general but this live album is an absolute embarrassment to Deep Purple. Tommy Bolin could not play one single note correctly. Turns out he overdosed a few days before and his arm was paralyzed and he could barely play. This concert is from day 4 after the overdose, supposedly having recovered.4/5(49).

  6. This Time Around - Live in Tokyo is the full concert recording of Deep Purple’s show at the Tokyo Budokan on 15th December A heavily edited and poorly mastered version of this concert was released a little over a year later and it’s worth looking back at that first/5(15).

The final Japanese show was recorded and released in that country and a few others in a severely edited form in Finally, 's two-CD set This Time Around: Live in Tokyo '75 captures the entire concert with remixed and remastered sound. Some good moments occur, but so do sloppy ones from an enormously talented yet obviously drained group.
